A Fully Stocked Bar

No house is complete without a full bar, which is why I have been so excited for our most recent shower…Stock the Bar!  This past weekend a group of my favorite people joined us to help celebrate our upcoming wedding and bring us all sorts of fun drinks and accessories.  It was SO great to see many of our friends we hadn’t seen in a while, and even more fun to celebrate with them 🙂  Thank you especially to Beth, Sy, Jennifer, and Trevor for organizing such an amazing shower. Ya’ll are the best!!

A Heartfelt Thank You

What more can I say than I am SO blessed to have some amazing friends and family in my life. This past weekend, my mom’s dearest friends did an amazing job throwing me my first Ladies Shower in Marietta. I had such a blast laughing, crying, and eating great food with my favorite people in the world. I cannot begin to say thank you to the gracious hostesses, my awesome family that traveled from Tennessee, and my amazing friends. I can’t wait to get back  up to the house to play with all my new toys! I may just have to bake a cake!! 😉

Showered with Love

Chase and I wanted to send out a BIG thank you to everyone who stopped by to celebrate with us at our first wedding shower in Habersham. We had such an amazing time and are so thankful for all the beautiful decorations, delicious food, and thoughtful gifts. This shower was extra special to us because it was our first — the wedding now seems closer than ever. We’re so excited!

Life’s a Picnic

Chase and I had so much fun picking out our cake this weekend! After deciding on the design, which was surprisingly easy, we were asked which flavors we wanted to use. Once the cake lady sensed our hesitancy, she left to prepare some samples.  I was expecting a few bites of each flavor, but when she returned, she had prepared two adorable cakes filled with two flavors each! She told us to take our time and call her with our decision.

Chase and I decided to take the cakes over to Lake Lanier Islands, where we’re getting married, and have a little cake picnic to come to a conclusion on the flavor. I won’t tell you exactly which we decided on, but you’ll be able to tell from the picture it was delicious!

Country Boy Meets City Girl

Chase and I couldn’t wait to share this adorable poem Amy Walters wrote for us.  This will go on the invitation for one of our showers.  Thank you. Amy!  Your creativity and originality are simply charming!

Country boy meets city girl
Their worlds collide and flags unfurl

Opposites attract and it is love at first sight
Every star in the heavens could be seen that night

With each passing day their love grows strong
They know in their hearts exactly where they belong

The proposal is made, and she says, “Yes!”
How beautiful she will be in her wedding dress!!

But before the “big day” we must help them prepare
For the wonderful life that they will share.

Please join us for a household shower in honor of
Chase Green and Ali Grasty.

Our amazing florist

Somedays I have to pinch myself because planning a wedding can seem so much like a fairytale.  I am so glad I planned our wedding a year out from our engagement — it has given me more time to enjoy the process, swoon in the spotlight.  Just this past week I had one of those “fairytale moments” at our florist’s shop.

I am lucky enough to live right down the street from the most adorable flower shops I’ve ever seen, The Flower Post.  The owner, Jill Chatham, has an amazing eye and definitely “gets” the style I’ve envisioned for the wedding.  Just last week my mom, Billie Jayroe, and I met with Jill for a “flower demo.”  Jill explained it’s best for us to sit down together and play with options so she can truly get a feel for what flowers I like.  Never did I expect to be so intrigued by the beauty of flowers and how easily they transform a space and lighten your mood 🙂

As soon as we walked in we saw a gift Jill had made for me hanging on her door — a wooden sign that reads “Ali & Chase’s Wedding”.  It was love at first site!  Jill knew I wanted a vintage garden theme, and she completely captured that look and feel right off the bat.  As we began our meeting, she worked her magic and created mock-bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and more.  Every detail was just perfect.  Two hours flew by and before I knew it I had a visual of all the flowers that were going to be used at our wedding–and they were perfect!

I can’t wait to see Jill work her magic on our wedding day.  I’ll now be able to appreciate every detail she bring to the day.

Save the Date!

By now most of our guests have received their Save the Dates, and I’ve gotten a lot of questions about where they’re from.  Those of you who know me best know I had to have full control over all print design (and web, of course) for the wedding, and the Save the Dates were no exception.

For the past six months I’ve been pulling different elements of the wedding together, from the dress, to the flowers, to the colors; and through that whole process I’ve been working on designing stationary for the wedding.  As a designer, I have a the whole day planned out in my head, and getting the chance to design certain pieces of the day really makes me feel like I’m bringing my vision to life.  My Save the Date design reflects a lot of the elements that will be incorporated into the wedding, and I hope you all will be there to see it come together!

As for the details of the Save the Date cards: yes, we stamped each little red heart, cut every corner with a decorative corner punch, and embossed every envelope.  Thank you to Jeff for printing all my designs — he’s worked with me so long he knows exactly how to “deal” with my requests.  Thank you Sheila and Terri for beautifully addressing each envelope, and thank you Chase for embossing all the envelopes.  God knows I don’t have the upper body strength to get through 100 of those things.

Lake Lanier Accommodations

To those who have chosen to stay overnight at Lake Lanier Resort, we can’t stress enough how important it is to secure a room before this summer. Lake Lanier is a very popular attraction during the summer months, and the Lodge will fill up very quickly Labor Day weekend. To secure a room, please call the front desk at 770.945.8787 and reference the Grasty/Green wedding. To help aid your decision, below is more information on all the accommodation options:

Lodge Guestrooms ($169/night): Rooms at Legacy Lodge consist of King Rooms and Double Queen Rooms with beautiful views of both the lake and the natural surroundings.  Each room is equipped with walk-in showers, granite counters, balconies, flat screen TVs, and complimentary wireless internet. The Lodge offers two restaurants, Windows and Bullfrog’s Bar, as well as a variety of dining services, including room service and catering. The entire resort, including the wedding festivities, is just a shuttle ride away.

Villas ($1000/night): The Villas are the newest addition to the resort’s accommodations. Although slightly more expensive, the Villas are directly on the lake and are right down the street from the Lodge. The room set-up is a bit confusing — each Villa consists of two King Rooms ($219/night), two Double Queens ($219/night), and two King Suites ($279/night). The King Suites are upstairs and have a VERY large common area for their private use.  The King and Double Queen rooms are very spacious, but do not have the same large common area.  Each room is individually keyed for privacy, although a few adjoining rooms do have shared doors that can be optionally unlocked for more space. Guests have the option to rent an entire Villa ($1000/night) for a large group or just one room for a family or couple. Shuttle services are available from the Villas to the Lodge (for restaurants and bar) and down to the wedding site as well.

Lakehouses ($389/night): At first glance, the exterior of the Lakehouses look a bit dated, but as soon as you walk in you will LOVE the charming Cape-Cod style.  The Lakehouses are cozy, quaint, fully-equipped cottages right on the lake. Each Lakehouse features two bedrooms and two private baths with dressing areas, and a pull-out sofa bed. Also included is a mini-kitchen, dining space and large family room with a fieldstone fireplace. The best part?  The hot tub and grill outside on the patio!  Although these cottages are a bit further from the Lodge, shuttle service is still available to guests staying here.

Off-site Options: If you choose not to stay at the resort during the wedding weekend, there are several off-site options as well.  The Mall of Georgia in Buford offers many hotels from Holiday Inn Express to SpringHill Suites by Marriott.  Your closest off-site option will be Comfort Inn & Suites in Buford, GA.  We do not have a wedding rate at any of these locations, but you should find that each has reasonable prices.

I hope this makes your decision to stay with us a bit simpler.  Don’t hesitate to email us with questions!

Will you be my bridesmaid?

One of my favorite things about the wedding planning process is the DIY projects that really add a personal touch.  Soon after Chase and I got engaged, I was anxious to begin some projects to get the wedding planning underway.  I came across this precious idea on the Project Wedding blog, and couldn’t resist making one for each of my bridesmaids and the flower girl, of course.

It took quite a bit of shopping and surfing to find all the right materials, but it all paid off once they started coming together.  I chose a picture of each girl and myself to put in the lid, and I “popped the question” to each girl on the underside of the lid.  After adding a note at the bottom of each tin, I filled them up with candy and topped them with a bow.

Hopefully these will be a keepsake they can keep forever!

Thanks for joining us!

We are so glad you’re visiting our blog!  We will do our very best to keep you updated on the wedding developments and festivities over the next seven months.  Stay tuned as we share our DIY projects, send shout outs to our vendors, and send love to our family and friends.

Much love!
